Our clients, based in Herne Hill, South East London needed help with several areas of their home which needed updating and renovating.

Our clients had existing bespoke walnut joinery in the reception rooms which they wanted to keep, so, when it came to choosing flooring we chose a walnut parquet which was installed throughout the ground floor. When considering the interior design for the double reception rooms, the brief was to create two distinct spaces, one specifically for listening to music and the other for relaxing in as a family.

We decided upon a two tone scheme for the front reception to make the most of the high ceilings and the original cornice. We brought warm tones of yellow into this room with pops of red and teal. We divided the two rooms by painting the architrave in the middle of the space a bright red. A teal, textured wallpaper was used in the back room to create a cocooning environment for the client to relax and listen to their extensive music collection.

We played with proportions in these spaces using oversized lamps and shades plus a beautiful bespoke octagonal footstool which was both practical and made a statement.
A little WC required some attention and we did this by papering it for an instant transformation in a bright stripe which incorporated many of the colours we had used elsewhere on the ground floor.

Upstairs a change of mood was required in the master bedroom where the client wanted to keep their existing antique bed and bedside tables. We introduced a green and terracotta scheme which was inspired by existing artwork. We took the bold green of the wallpaper onto all woodwork and the architrave for a striking finish. Soft furnishings, bespoke lampshades and repainted furniture completed the scheme.

In the adjacent WC we decided to take the terracotta accents used in the master bedroom and use this as the base colour for the scheme which we painted walls and ceilings in for a chic look. A pretty blind and delicate lighting softened the bathroom and added a feminine touch.
