Our clients in this Crouch End, North London project, were a young and dynamic family who required our help to make their home work better for them and to inject colour and warmth throughout.

The ground floor, which was entirely open plan, was interior designed by our studio, to create distinct spaces within it. The problematic ‘middle room’ which was previously a transitory space, was spatially re-designed by the installation of a wood burning stove, two sculptural armchairs, a rug for warmth and importantly re- painted with a warm, tonal scheme to make it into an inviting space to linger in.

The adjacent kitchen was painted to flow seamlessly with the middle room. The paint scheme transformed this previously clinical space, by using a darker paint colour on the ceiling to both highlight the beautiful architectural details but also to add warmth and character to the space.

Sliding doors in the hallway were replaced with large glazed doors painted in a cerulean blue to bring light into both spaces and link the blue in the hallway tiles with the rest of the house. We designed cloakroom storage within a large powder room and curtained off the WC area, cladding it in tongue and groove panelling in a high gloss red finish to add a luxe element to this utilitarian space.

The blue elements in the downstairs were carried upstairs to the master bedroom where soft blue walls were teamed with a muddy pink ceiling colour to create a serene and warm scheme. A large, upholstered headboard, new joinery with bamboo detailing, and an antique bath added a sense of luxe to the room. We re- upholstered the client’s vintage chair and footstool and re-purposed antique pieces to make this room feel truly unique.

Finally, we designed a new dining bench seat, sourced soft furnishings and lighting for the family living area which needed to feel luxe but also practical for family life. This space led to the cinema room which we repainted in a plaster finish to add some character and texture to this modern space. A curved olive green sofa and richly patterned soft furnishings brought a grown up feel to this family space.
